Why is World Teachers' Day celebrated only on 5 October?

In fact, in 1966, ILO/UNESCO had recommended celebrating World Teachers' Day keeping in mind the rights, responsibilities, recruitment, employment, teaching and learning conditions of teachers. However, it took almost 28 years to get recognition.

It was a part of the Inter-Governmental Conference organized by UNESCO in Paris, in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO), which recognized the World Teachers' Day on 05 October 1994 in view of the situation of teachers. Therefore this day is celebrated every year on 05 October. The first World Teachers' Day was celebrated on 5 October 1994.
